Questions

What parents ask us most

Do you take my insurance?

Some clinicians bill some PPO and employer plans, and many plans do not pay for testing done for school or learning reasons. We check your plan's benefits with you before you book. We do not bill Medicare or Medicaid.

What is a superbill, and can I use one?

A superbill is an itemized receipt that you can send to your plan. If your plan reimburses out-of-network care, you send it in, and the plan decides what it may pay. It carries a diagnosis code, which your insurer sees, and reimbursement is not guaranteed.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of what care will cost before you start, and we give you one. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

How much does an evaluation cost, and how do fees work?

An evaluation has one fee for the whole process, from intake to the school letter. We give you that fee in writing before testing starts, so there is no surprise at the end. The fees page explains what it covers and what it does not.

Can I use an HSA or FSA card?

Yes. The fee for an evaluation can be paid with an HSA or FSA card. Check with your plan administrator about what it allows.

What happens at the first visit?

The first visit is for parents. We talk about what you have noticed, read what you brought, and decide together whether testing fits. Your child does not take any tests that day.

How many visits does an evaluation take, and how long?

Your child usually comes for one or two visits of a few hours, with breaks, planned around their age and energy. We tell you the plan at intake, and the feedback meeting comes after the scoring is done.

Are your psychologists licensed where I live?

Both psychologists are licensed in Kansas, and each license is listed with the board that issues it at the foot of every page. Testing happens in person at the office in Overland Park.

What do I do in a crisis?

Call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any time. In an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. This site and our messages are not watched around the clock, and we are not an emergency service.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

We keep your child's records private and share them only as the law allows. Before testing begins we explain the limits of confidentiality in writing. The report goes to you, and the school only gets what you choose to share.

Can you see my teen, and how does consent work?

A parent or legal guardian gives consent for an evaluation of a child under 18, and we explain what that means for a teen's own privacy at intake. Older teens are part of the conversation about what the report says.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please tell us at least 48 hours before a testing visit if you need to change it, because the time is held for your child. A visit canceled with less notice is charged.
